Peter Brown Hoffmeister is a writer, teacher, rock climber, and gear tester (for Nike). He lives in Eugene, Oregon with his wife Jennie and two daughters, and teaches at South Eugene High School: Lit, creative writing, outdoor pursuits, and survival.
His fiction collection, Loss, won the 2006 Oregon Literary Arts Fellowship, and his essay, “How to Break Up With Your Climbing Partner”, won the Rock and Ice National Bloggers’ Brawl.
His features have appeared in Climbing Magazine, Rock and Ice Magazine, Gripped Magazine, Ampheta’Zine, and Vbouldering. Fiction and poetry in The Rogue Voice, BlazeVOX, Denali, Paradoxism, Struggle, and Ink Pot. He is currently on the Huffington Post’s blog team.
His work is represented by Adriann Ranta, Wolf Literary Services LLC, and his first book, The End of Boys, was released by Soft Skull, Spring 2011. His second book, Let Them Be Eaten By Bears: A Fearless Guide to Taking Our Kids into the Great Outdoors will be released by Perigee (Penguin Book Group) in May 7th, 2013. His first novel, Graphic the Valley, will be released by Tyrus Books on July 1st, 2013.
He is currently at work on his second novel.
